Bride day-of: timeline, beauty & emergency kit

Bride getting ready with makeup artist and bridesmaids

The key to a calm morning is planning real timings, assigning point people and leaving buffers. The goal: enjoy your getting ready, get beautiful photos and arrive at the ceremony on time. Use this base and adjust to your mass/civil time, transfers and beauty team size.

Suggested timeline (example with 1:30 p.m. ceremony)

  • 07:30 Light breakfast, hydration and basic skincare (cleanse + serum + moisturizer + SPF if direct sun).
  • 08:00 Start hair & makeup in blocks (maids/mom/special guest). Order: hair for all > makeup for all > bride last.
  • 10:30 Photo/video arrives to getting ready (details: dress, shoes, invitations, rings, flat lay).
  • 11:15 Bride’s final hair & makeup + setting and lipstick for touch-ups.
  • 11:45 Dress and accessories (2 designated helpers for closures, corset and train).
  • 12:15 First look / immediate family photos (optional) or bride portraits in the room.
  • 12:50 Depart to ceremony (includes traffic/parking buffer).
  • 13:30 Ceremony on time.

Golden rule: allow 45–60 min per person with a pro team and add a total 20–30 min buffer. If >5 people, book 2 artists.

Beauty & wardrobe

  • Schedule a hair and makeup trial 4–6 weeks prior; bring veil/comb to test real hold.
  • Wear a robe or button-down to avoid ruining hair; have pretty hangers for the dress shot.
  • Decide who will help with buttons, corset and train (and practice the bustle).
  • If hot or humid, ask for long-wear products, primer and setting spray; with sensitive skin, test patches/moisturizer days ahead.

Must-have items

  • Rings, lasso/coins (if applicable), civil docs/IDs and envelopes for offerings.
  • Bouquet, veil/comb, garter/handkerchief and printed vows/speech.
  • Invitations and flat lay bits (ribbon, seals, fragrance) for photos.
  • Tip/payment kit in labeled envelopes for vendors.

Emergency kit (curated)

  • Sewing: thread/needle, spare buttons, safety pins, fashion tape, small scissors.
  • Beauty: wipes, tissues, blotting paper, lipstick shade, translucent powder, setting spray, mini comb, bobby pins, hair spray, elastics.
  • Health: band-aids, pain reliever, antacid, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine if needed.
  • Misc: charger, power bank, snacks (bars/nuts), water, reusable straws.

Express coordination

  • Share the run of show with beauty and photo/video; print it and post it on the door.
  • Assign point people: rings, lasso/coins, bouquet, veil, kit.
  • Confirm route and timing (driver/app) and venue access point.
  • Have a weather plan B (clear umbrellas, fans, wipes) or for cold (light shawl/white blazer for photos).

Time-saving tricks

  • Clutter-free zone for photos (remove suitcases/bags from the main room).
  • Calm playlist at the start and more upbeat near the end of getting ready.
  • Ready 30: aim to be ready 30 min early; those minutes save the day.
  • Ask someone to bring a mini steamer and check the dress hem/wrinkles at the end.
